Squareroot8 Technologies (SQRT8) is a Singapore-based startup developing quantum security solutions. It is a spin-off from the National University of Singapore (NUS)[1].
Technology
The startup has licensed a chip-based quantum random number generator (QRNG) technology from the NUS[1]. Their solutions include high entropy random numbers, quantum key distribution, and post-quantum cryptography.
Traction
In September 2025, SQRT8 entered a joint product agreement with Partisia to develop a product that combines quantum-safe hardware with advanced cryptographic software to provide secure key generation and distribution to safeguard data and identities against quantum-based threats[2].
Funding
The project received a S$3 million grant from Singapore's National Research Foundation in 2019 and raised US$3 million in seed funding in 2022[1].
SQRT8's funders are undisclosed.
