WaveScan

From The Deep Tech Wiki

Wavescan is a Singapore-based startup that is developing beamforming electromagnetics smart scanner technology and AI for non-destructive testing (NDT) of infrastructure and facilities.

Technology

Wavescan's solution uses microwave holographic imaging that records backscattered microwaves to create a 3d representation of a multilayered media[1]. The solution operates across a wide frequency range in order to achieve higher resolution imaging compared to traditional NDT methods.

The solution has been used for structural and facade inspections

Intellectual property

Wavescan's key patent is WO2021236019A1: Non-contact microwave testing system and method for see-through imaging[2]. It has been granted in Singapore and is pending in Japan, the US, and Europe.

The startup claims that other patents are in filing or PCT stages[1].

Accolades

The startup has won numerous accolades since it's founding, including:

2024

  • Finalist in HKSTP's Elevator Pitch Competition 2024 (EPiC 2024)[3]
  • S$0.5 million Cities of Tomorrow (CoT) R&D grant to advance their scanner tech for facade inspections. The grant is administered by the Singapore Government

2023

  • Singapore International Chamber of Commerce Awards 2023 Finalist for Best Technological Collaboration, for Wavescan's project with the Singapore HDB towards deployment of Wavescan's technology in various structural inspection use cases within HDB estates.

Funding

In 2021, the startup raised an undisclosed seven-figure amount in its first seed funding round led by Silicon Solution Ventures[4]
