Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template automatically populates Category:Redirects from other disambiguation and, when the redirect is in main-article namespace (mainspace), then Category:Unprintworthy redirects is also populated by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Alternative disambiguations are not usually suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. See below for what to do for the few redirects from other disambiguations that are printworthy.

• Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:

and optionally providing the page the redirect is an alternative disambiguation of, if different from the redirect's title:

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

• Use this rcat to tag any redirect in any namespace that disambiguates (qualifies) a subject usually with parentheses, "()", and often as the result of a page move/rename. The target article must also have a disambiguator in its title.

For example: ** {{-r|Pitbull (entertainer)}}[[File:Redirect arrow without text.svg|35px]][[Pitbull (rapper)]]. ** {{-r|Tyre (Lebanon)}}[[File:Redirect arrow without text.svg|35px]][[Tyre, Lebanon]] (from a [[WP:PARENDIS|parenthetical to a comma-separated]] disambiguation)

• These redirected disambiguations are correct, complete, not unnecessary and yet different. When disambiguations are incorrect, incomplete or unnecessary, then use {{R from incorrect disambiguation}}, {{R from incomplete disambiguation}} or {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} to tag those redirects instead.
• By default, this template tags redirects as unprintworthy. To tag and categorize a redirect as printworthy, use the bar key ( ¦ ) on your keyboard to type the addition |printworthy=yes in the following manner:

Note: The bar key ( ¦ ) on the keyboard renders as a pipe ( | ) on the screen.

That will subdue the default unprintworthy category and populate Category:Printworthy redirects instead.
