Template:R from cover song

When used inside the {{Redirect category shell}} template:

When used by itself:

• From a song's cover version: This is a redirect from a cover version of a song to the article about the original song this version covers. This accords with editing guidelines located at WP:SONGDAB.
  • Use this rcat only on redirects that are in Wikipedia's main-article namespace, and only when the redirect's topic is a song which is a cover version of its target. If it is not a cover version of its target, use {{R from song}} instead.

Usage

Use this rcat template on mainspace redirects only.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from cover versions of songs and Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Since redirected song titles are already mentioned in album and film articles, they are usually not needed in a printed version unless they are notable enough to have their own articles. In other words they are usually unprintworthy. See below for the few song redirects that are printworthy.

• Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

#REDIRECT [[(target article title)]]

This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.

• Use this rcat to tag any mainspace redirect from a song title to a more general, relevant article such as an album, film or artist. Targeting the specific album or film in which the song appears is preferable and linking to the artist should be done only when the album or film does not have a page on Wikipedia.
• By default, this template places redirects in the Unprintworthy redirects category. To tag and categorize a redirect as printworthy use the unnamed parameter in the following manner:

or the 1= may be omitted:

and if applied individually:

That will subdue the Unprintworthy redirects category and place the redirect in Category:Printworthy redirects.
