• To a decade: This is a redirect from a year (or years) to to the associated decade article. Years from 1700 to 500 BCE should redirect to the relevant decade per Wikipedia:Timeline standards.
  • Do not replace these redirected links with a link directly to the target page. Individual articles may be created for these years in the future.

Usage

Use this rcat template on mainspace redirects only.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates both Category:Redirects to a decade and Category:Redirects with possibilities, which populates Category:Printworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Any mainspace redirect from a year to a decade has the possibility of becoming an article and is usually suitable for a printed version. In other words they are almost always printworthy. See instructions below for those few unprintworthy ones.

• Add this rcat to a redirect (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

• Use this rcat on any redirect from a year(s) to the associated decade article. Years from 1700 BC to 500 BC should redirect to the relevant decade per Wikipedia:Timeline standards. This template should also be used on topical-article redirects in mainspace, such as 1745 in archaeology, as long as the redirect targets a decade article.
• Important note: The {{R with possibilities}} rcat is automatically added, so it should not be included in the tagging of the redirect. If it is included in the tagging of the redirect, then it will appear twice on the redirect page. The {{R printworthy}} template should be added to provide information to redirect editors.
• There may be the rare redirect that has little or no possibility of becoming an article. For these, the associated categories, Redirects with possibilities and its default Printworthy redirects, may be suppressed by use of the unnamed parameter in the following manner:

This will sort the redirect to Category:Unprintworthy redirects instead of the Printworthy redirects and Redirects with possibilities categories.
