When used inside the {{Redirect category shell}} template:

When used by itself:

• From an incomplete name: This is a redirect from a title that is an incomplete form of a topic's correct name. The correct name is given by the target of this redirect.
  • Use this rcat to tag redirects from an incomplete form of a name, including a person's, a geographic entity's full name, or a book title. For acceptable short names, please use {{R from short name}} instead. For outright erroneous names, please use {{R from incorrect name}} instead.
  • This redirect is kept to aid searches. Pages linking to this title should be updated to link directly to the correct title given above, unless the form is an acceptable short name better tagged by {{R from short name}}.
  • This template tags redirects with a subcategory of the Redirects from incorrect names category, so the template {{R from incorrect name}} should not be used with this one.

Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from incomplete names and, when the redirect is in main-article namespace (mainspace), then Category:Unprintworthy redirects is also populated by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Mainspace redirects that are incomplete names are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.

• Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:

and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

• Use this rcat to tag any redirect in any namespace that is titled with an incomplete name. It targets a page that is titled with the complete name of the subject. If the redirect is a short name, not an incorrect, incomplete name, for example, Elvis for Elvis Presley, then use {{R from short name}} instead. Examples of incomplete names are:
  • Julio RomeroJulio Romero de Torres
  • London to Brighton RunLondon to Brighton Veteran Car Run
  • Abu Dhabi AirportAbu Dhabi International Airport
