Insectta is a Singapore-based startup producing chitosan and melanin from black soldier flies.

Technology

Insectta owns a proprietary single extraction process that transforms black soldier flies (Hermetia illucens) into chitosan and melanin, which can be used in skincare applications. Using circularly produced black solider flies, the production of these bio-materials are more sustainable than industry counterparts[1].

Funding

In 2023, the startup raised $1.4 million in a funding round led by the Trendlines Group[2]. Their seed funding round in 2020 was also led by the Trendlines Group[3].
