Alterpacks is a Singapore-based start-up focused on sustainability solutions using food waste.

Technology

Alterpacks upcycles leftover agricultural waste and food by-products, like wheat husks and spent grains, into packaging material. This material is freezer-safe, microwave-safe, and food contact-safe (US FDA, EU, Singapore)[1]. It is also 100% home compostable.

The material can also be supplied as bio-pellets or integrated as additives to existing pulp and fibre manufacturing[2].

Funding

The startup raised $1million in pre-seed funding in 2023, led by Plug and Play APAC and Seeds Capital[3].
