This template provides a way to wrap [[wiki markup]], or plain text, in (single) [[square brackets]]. More importantly, it helps to keep the markup free of line noise and thus [[Wiki#Pages and editing|easier to edit]].

=== Function ===
This template is a simple wrapper around the <code>&#91;</code> and <code>&#93;</code> [[HTML entities]] that produce starting and ending brackets, respectively.

The template cannot output just an ending bracket. You will have to use <code>&#93;</code> to produce the "]" ending bracket.

This template is not necessary in [[WP:CS1|Citation Style 1]] templates. You can simply use square brackets, and they will be treated as ordinary text (and not wiki markup) when it constructs links.
